The North-East coast quite famously known as ‘Kensington-on-sea’ is a delight to all visitors and the lovely village of Kassiopi is one of those delights. It provides a satisfying array of amenities to suit everyone in your group – young or old.

A personal recommendation for something to do whilst in Kassiopi would be to hire a boat from the harbour and sail around the coast, casting anchor at one of the many pretty little coves for a swim or mooring at a jetty for a spot of lunch. The Durrell’s White House and Rothschild’s castle are within an easy sail away… We are blessed with a beautiful coastline and there does not exist a better way to explore.
Both boat and coach excursions run straight from the village too. Why not enjoy a relaxing East coast cruise or, going West, have fun on the sandy beach BBQ trip? (The closest sandy beach is just 6 minutes drive away and is super safe for children).
Alternatively for those who wish to kick back and do nothing, Kassiopi and it’s residents laid-back feeling makes for the perfect backdrop. A quaint small cove for dipping into the sea is only 4 minutes walk behind our villa and the main beach is just 7 minutes walk. There are a few equally beautiful small coves along the headland of Kassiopi that are worth an exploration…all within easy walking distance. Being on the North-East coast of Corfu, the seas here are free from dangerous currents and flaunt blue-flag status.
The harbour of Kassiopi is overlooked by the partially restored Byzantium Castle. You are treated to some spectacular views of Kassiopi if you walk the inside parameters of the castle and walking the outside parameters along the headland, views across the sea to the Albanian coastline. Worth the walks!
Kassiopi plays host to some beautiful celebrations throughout the year and it is at these times that you really feel the community spirit and authentic Greek culture come alive. Notable festivals include May Day, May 8th ‘panagia’ in celebration and remembrance of the Great Miracle in 1530, May 21st celebrating the unification of the Ionian Islands, August 15th in celebration of the assumption of the virgin Mary and October 28th celebrating ‘Oxi’ (no) Day. Often these days would be highlighted with parades, marching bands, live music, fireworks and greek dancing. Plus lots of merry Greek locals!
